Okay, I’m working on the revisions of Book 3, A Promise Broken. When I first began writing it, a problem developed. The stories were so strongly hooked into geographic elements (earthquake tremors) that I basically had to write all three major plot lines at the same time (Maple Community, Cliff City, and Tunnel Town).
Then of course, details had to be added to create the finale. It began to feel like a maze.
This problem was worked out with the help of my editing team.
But now that I’m revising, the maze is becoming more challenging.
The overlapping is adding too much and it’s hard to work in action with all the ‘rabbit trails’ I had to create.
The old saying came true…can’t see the forest for the trees.
So here I go again. I’ve just separated the first 2/3 of the book into the three settings. Next step, condense to keep tension and action high. Then bring them all together again for the cliff hanger of book 3. (Yup, it’s a good cliff hanger ending to this book.)
Will this work? We’ll see.
I am back in book 3, A Promise Broken, fixing the mistakes that my round 3 editors found. While I’ll never say I love having my mistakes pointed out (who does), I am so very grateful that my editors love me enough to show me where changes are needed.
I just put in three exciting events into chapter one. They really pick up the pace and make the opening a lot more fun to read. Thank you Greg, Joann, and Ashley! You are really pushing me to improve. I appreciate your honesty.
Thank you to everyone who has already voted in the contest being run by The Authors’ Show. I really appreciate your support.

On July 18, please check out: www.TheAuthorsShow.com My radio interview is playing!
I just love posting this!
I put book 3 on hold so that I could finish drafting book 4. Now it’s time to take the corrections made by my line editors (thanks Greg and Joann) and incorporate them into the copy.
After that I wait for content editor comments on book 4. Once book four is in a more finished form, book 3 will go into publication.
I’ll do the prep work for publication once editing is done.
In case you’ve never seen my idea for the cover of book 3, here’s a similar picture. I’m sure some of you recognize the setting.
I never knew how many steps are involved in writing a book. Okay, so I still think all this is really great! I admit it.
I am very grateful to the amazing team of readers, content editors, and line editors that make this process possible.
I am truly blessed.
I finished the first full read through. I know I’m biased, but I like it!
Later today I print a copy and hand it to my editor on Sunday. And the next stage begins.
Now that I’ve drafted Believe (book 4), it’s time to read through the book.
Tonight I read about fifty pages and so far I like what I’ve written.
Of course, I’m revising. It always hurts to cut out a part you thought would work well, but simply doesn’t.
And then there is the required editing, fixing very tenses is my main task with this reread…I just love shifting tenses when I draft.
But in all, I’m happy so far. I promised my editor, Ashley, a copy of the book by Sunday, so I’ll be back at work early in the morning.
I can’t wait to share the published book with you. Books 3 & 4 will be published close together. (You’ll understand why when you finish reading book 3.)
